The Business of Being an Artist

Yesterday was my last and final coaching session with the amazing Artsbiz women. http://artsbiz.co.nz. I have been going to their monthly workshops and getting one on one coaching for the past year. They have been incredible and invaluable to me as an artist starting my own business. As an artist sometimes it can be a lonely endeavor and it was so great to have outside support from them. I am hoping for more opportunities like this as it was great to get together with the other artists as well and know that we are all out there doing our thing, and not alone. Some of the advice they gave me and I implemented was to start a "data base", update my website http://flairfilms.com, start this blog, make a line of greeting cards, go to the SPADA conference, revise my CV, get an accountant, get a lawyer, enter the WAX exhibition, network, etc.....
I think the main thing tho is it has given me the extra confidence I needed, and it's so nice to have that support and encouragement. I recommend artsbiz to any artist out there who is needing that extra push to take yourself to the next level. Thanks Suzette, Lynne, and Anna! and to Tania and Vikki for making it happen!

This painting is called "Crazy Koru" and is currently exhibited at Cherries 39 Lowe St in Gisborne, NZ.
